Our Story
Fancy hearing about a day in the life of Paris Tooraji?
Night Owl Artist, 46, loves the quiet of the night. lives with his wife, Marigold, and their beloved bunny, Lily.
6 pm My routine a night owl is a cup of black tea and a cigarette. [Don’t judge! Old habits die hard] Marigold and I ease into the evening with a bit of telly. Truth be told, we’re not really ones for gallivanting about. Give us a cosy night in any day. Though we do make an exception for our furry friend, Charlie [or Lily, as we like to call him]. He’s our little ray of sunshine, you see, and deserves all the pampering a rabbit could ask for. He’s like a child to us, really. Spoiled rotten, of course.
My Studio
Now, I admit, my “studio” is a bit unconventional. Picture this: half of our kitchen commandeered by a fold-away desk that, when open, cleverly barricades the fridge door. [A necessary measure, I assure you, for uninterrupted creativity!] But every now and then, the silence is broken by the soft thud of Marigold’s footsteps and a gentle rattle as she discovers the fridge is out of bounds. The disappointed sigh that follows always makes me smile, even as it momentarily disrupts my flow.
9pm Time to don my chef’s hat! Cooking is another one of my passions. Another form of art, if you will. Chopping, stirring, creating… it’s all rather therapeutic, isn’t it? And Marigold, whenever she’s particularly enamoured with my culinary creations, she declares, “I love you, Paris!” To which I reply, with my usual dry wit, “I know!” To escape the monotony of the artistic life [yes, even we creative types have our routines!], I indulge in re-watching classic comedies. “Man About the House” is a firm favourite, though we’re partial to a bit of “Sherlock Holmes” with Jeremy Brett, too. Now, I’m not one for blowing my own trumpet [though I wouldn’t mind having a go on one sometime!], but I do rather enjoy the process of creation. Each painting is a journey, a chance to delve into the abstract and let my emotions run wild. My weapon of choice? Acrylics! I love their quick-drying nature – perfect for an impatient soul like me. When I’m in the zone, the world fades away. It’s just me, the canvas, and the colours. Even Marigold knows not to disturb me then. Well, unless the house is on fire, of course. It’s in these moments of intense focus that I feel most alive, most connected to my inner self.
Our Charlie
The king of our castle
Charlie, the rabbit. Or Lily, as we affectionately call him. He’s our little ray of sunshine, our fluffy muse, and the undisputed champion of chewing anything within reach.
